The second edition of the Mallorcan Almond Fair arrives in Palma, with more companies and new products

It will be held next Saturday, June 1, in the Plaça Major of Palma, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will have eight companies that work with Mallorcan IGP almond

The second edition of the Mallorcan Almond Fair will take place this Saturday, June 1, in the center of Palma. More specifically, in the Plaça Major, from ten in the morning until six in the afternoon. This year the fair will have the presence of up to eight companies that work with authentic Mallorcan almond or that elaborate different derivative products with this, with some novelty, and also with a sample of quality products from the Balearic Islands.

Among the participants, some typical island brands that work with almonds, such as Camp Mallorquí, Almendras Capó, Fet a Sóller or Bessó de Mallorca; and others such as La Menorquina, which repeats with its ice cream made with almonds from Mallorca. This year the new products will be the Can Trias bakery, with its traditional mallorcan ‘gató’, and Bon Bessó, a company that produces cheeses with almond milk. Finally, one of Ascaib’s chefs, ‘Pinxo’ González, will make two ‘tapas’ where this dry fruit will be the protagonist, one salty and one sweet.

The last edition, held on Paseo del Born, already had a good influx of public and good sales figures for the participating companies. However, according to the president of the IGP Ametlla de Mallorca, Miquel Riera, it is expected that this year they will be “even better, since this fair is increasingly known, and we want it to be consolidated among the most important of the calendar”.

Several public authorities have already confirmed their attendance at the institutional visit and the first tapas tasting, which will take place around 12 hours. It should be remembered that this fair has the financial support of the European FEADER funds, managed by the Conselleria d’Agricultura, Pesca i Medi Natural of the Govern; as well as the collaboration of the Ajuntament de Palma with PalmaActiva.
