The Mallorca IGP almond stands out and surprises at the ‘Alimentaria & Hostelco’ fair in Barcelona

Many companies in the food and hospitality sector are interested in their unique taste and aroma, differentiating properties from the rest of the almonds on the market and the multiple culinary applications

The Mallorca IGP almond has been very present these days at the international fair ‘Alimentaria & Hostelco’ held in Barcelona, and many leading companies in the food and hospitality sector have been surprised and interested in its flavor and aroma, its differentiating properties from the rest of the almonds on the market and also for the multiple applications and culinary qualities it offers.

Within the ‘Quatre Illes per assaborir’ stand of the Department of Agriculture of the Government of the Balearic Islands, it has been making known and tasting among the audience by the Regulatory Council of the IGP, as well as by the associated companies Camp Mallorquí and Fet a Sóller. The stand was shared with other quality and guarantee brands and island companies.

On the other hand, the chefs of Ascaib José Cortés and Marga Brunet used it in two recipes in two showcookings during the fair: as a companion of a beet tartar with Mahón-Menorca cheese, Oil from Mallorca and Salt Flower from Es Trenc; and in almond milk to a dish with pumpkin rice from Sa Pobla, infused with Mimaterra. Two elaborations that they liked and surprised in equal parts.

During the four days of the fair, some 100,000 visitors in the sector passed through the pavilions of the venue, and the stand of the Islands received, in addition to the visits of commercial professionals and businessmen, the visit of both the Balearic Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet; and the island councilor of Economic Promotion and Local Product, Pilar Amate.
